In collaboration with the Mind Sports Olympiad (MSO), we are excited to share the details about their up-and-coming event, the MSO Grand Prix.
The MSO Grand Prix is a brand-new free online Mind Sports competition, which will bring the thrill of the MSO to wherever you are – beginning on the Easter weekend of 2022. The goal of the MSO Grand Prix is to continue to bring together the world’s best players in online competition.
As part of the Grand Prix competition (over 100 individual events) there will be the Grand Prix Championship to find the best player over the course of event. The many games have been split into 7 categories:
- Chess
- Poker
- Backgammon
- Draughts
- Multiplayer (3+ players), e.g., 7 Wonders, Catan, Perudo
- Abstract (2 players, perfect information), e.g., Draughts
- Imperfect Information (2 players, hidden information, or randomness), e.g., Entropy
We are excited to share that over 30 of the tournaments will be played on playstrategy.org. This includes a mixture of Swiss and Arena for Chess, Draughts, Lines of Action, Shogi, Xiangqi, Othello and their variants, which covers 3 of the 7 categories.
There will be some PlayStrategy days in the Grand Prix where the only events will be held exclusively on playstrategy.org.
As part of the Grand Prix Championship, points can be acquired in any event so long as you finish in the top half. Double points are acquired for a player’s best score in each category. Therefore, the more games you compete in the better you will do!
Similar to last summer’s MSO, every event will have physical and virtual medals up for grabs, so start practicing now on playstrategy.org, and compete in the warmup tournaments.
Registration will soon be available on the MSO website, for more information visit the MSO Grand Prix page (https://mindsportsolympiad.com/mso-grand-prix/). Please make sure you join the Mind Sports Olympiad team on playstrategy.org, a requirement to enter the tournaments. Within the Mind Sports Olympiad team you will be able to see the scheduled tournaments on playstrategy.org, when they become available, and sign up to them.
Good Luck and have fun playing games! 😊
