Changing the Spanish draughts icon

Hello,

the icon for the game Spanish draughts is a bull, which makes sense because the national animal of Spain is the Spanish Fighting Bull.

I would prefer if the game uses other symbols such as the Spanish flag like in American/English draughts and Brazilian draughts, or the Spanish Coat of arms.

Why? In Spain, bulls are a symbol because there is a bull fighting tradition where bulls:
- are slaughtered in the thousands each year while engaging in a blood sport called bullfighting where they suffer severe stress and a slow, torturous death
- participate in a "Running of the bulls" where they run in streets suffering from falls, tramplings, bruises and fractures; and often collide with walls getting severely injured and breaking bones

This is the short version of it. If anyone is still not convinced of the cruelty, I am more than ready to share images and footage of the abuse.

Cheers

It should also be noted that after death, the bull carcass is sent to the butchers, it is cut up and the meat is given to hospitals and social shelters for the poor. In addition, a bull can be pardoned if it has been particularly aggressive at a show. Serious injuries and even death of bullfighters during bullfights are not uncommon.

I accept any challenge to Spanish Checkers by correspondence.

@Pokshtya

1. Is it ok for me to make dogs and cats suffer or tortured for entertainment until they die, if their meat eventually goes to hospitals and shelters?

2. The pardoning of bulls is done rarely, and it's usually after they have suffered a lot.

3. On principle it is wrong for bullfighters to engage in this activity, where they are torturing the animals. Compared to the number of bulls that die in the ring, this is a crazy comparison. Some sources say each year around 200,000 bulls die worldwide, and 35,000 in Spain alone.

Most of your points are about the selfish benefit humans get from bullfighting. While one is an attempt at empathy, for a rare number of bulls, after they have already suffered greatly through something, of which they shouldn't have been suffering in the first place.

I am a vegan, but don't see how that is relevant to the point I am making

I looked online and can't find a definitive answer. Some say the Osborne bull is the national symbol, others the Spanish Fighting Bull, some say both, etc.

Even if the Osborne bull / bull is the national symbol, I don't think it would matter. I don't see reason why we can't replace the game icon with the Spanish flag or coat of arms, considering the country's violent and massive mistreatment of bulls.

I don't drink alcohol.

Did you know that the human body produces ethanol itself every day? True, in very small quantities - about 3-4 g. Such ethyl alcohol is called endogenous alcohol. It is synthesized in the gastrointestinal tract as a by-product of carbohydrate metabolism.
