Site statistics

Congratulations to @oruro who becomes the first player to reach 10,000 games on PlayStrategy! A special mention to @Vladimir who is less than 100 behind!

Overall on PlayStrategy we surpassed 300,000 total games last month, with September being the first occasion where we have had over 20,000 games in a calendar month.

And, just last week, we got to the point where we have had more games so far in 2024 than the whole of 2023!

Thanks to all our users who have contributed to these statistics and we look forward to seeing the site continue to grow over time.

Good games all!

It would also be interesting to know how many new players have joined the site in the last month?
What are the most popular games?
20k games per calendar month is good, but how many active players were involved in them? Based on your data, oruro could handle this alone. Just kidding.

@Pokshtya I don't have all of that data to hand, but I can say that there were nearly 400 new users in September, but only just over half of these actually played a game. There were a little over 1000 total active users in the last month.

Top games (by total games played) are: Chess, Brazilian, Othello, Oware, Atomic, Amazons, Xiangqi, Antichess
Top games (by games per day since variant was launched) are: Bestemshe, Mini Breakthrough, Chess, Brazilian, Amazons, Othello, Oware, Monster, Backgammon.

It is usual to see new games get a lot of initial interest and then trail off, hence Bestemshe and Mini Breakthrough currently being at the top of this list. However, these games in particular are also helped by being quick to play and so I think users can play more of these variants in the same amount of time in comparison to a longer variant (e.g. Togyzqumalaq or Breakthrough).

In general we are continuing to see positive trends in all of the data that we monitor.

Hmm, Brazilian... This is very interesting...
I think this is primarily due to the ability to play against the engine, which Lidraughts cannot provide.
As for quick games, everything is logical here.

@Pokshtya There are regularly organized brazilian swiss tournaments on this site. Lidraughts doesn't have this functionality. That's my guess why there are high brazilian numbers. Some players who actively play in the swiss tournaments are also in the top 10 active players list playstrategy.org/team/genial-mente

There is a group who play a Swiss for Brazilian most days on the site. I think the difference is actually that PlayStrategy has the Swiss functionality whilst Lidraughts does not.

We need also a list for the Tournament Points.
