Abalone Has Arrived
We are excited to announce the launch of Abalone on PlayStrategy!
We are delighted to share with you that Abalone has arrived to PlayStrategy!
Abalone is a two-player abstract strategy board game designed by Michel Lalet and Laurent Lévi in 1987. Players are represented by opposing black and white marbles on a hexagonal board. The objective is to be the first to push six of the opponent's marbles off the edge of the board.
This is the first time we have supported a hexagonal based game, which opens the door to many more games in the future! Abalone has mainly been developed by @vincent who is a multi-time Abalone World Champion!
We have provided a tutorial study to help with understanding the rules/moves and you can read more on our rules page.
As usual whenever we launch a new variant, we will have an Introductory tournament. This will on Sunday 19th January:
10:00 UTC+0 Abalone Introductory (1 hour)
Additionally, the Mind Sports Olympiad will be running an Abalone tournament as part of their online Grand Prix on Saturday 1st March.
In the meantime, feel free to try out Abalone in the lobby, or against our bots @PS-Random-Mover, @PS-Greedy-One-Move or @PS-Greedy-Two-Move.
As always, enjoy the game, and please let us know of any bugs or feedback you have!
