Have you ever thought that Draughts would be interesting if all the squares on the board were being used? Well the Dameo variant which was invented by Christian Freeling in 2000 will let you find out for yourself!

Dameo is the latest variant to be added to PlayStrategy, and is part of wider changes planned for Draughts variants. We've been able to add Dameo in a way that allows for use of the Analysis board, Studies, and embeds of games into the forum. We hope to slowly add these features for the other Draughts variants over time.

The rules for Dameo have similar capture mechanics to classic Draughts variants, but with different movement options that use all 64 of the boards squares.

As with any new game on PlayStrategy, we have an Introductory Tournament - your chance to win a one-off trophy for the new variant! This tournament will be held on Sunday 14th December at 16:00 UTC+0 for 1 hour. Dameo will then join the rest of the PlayStrategy tournament schedule, most notably with the 24-hour Dameo yearly on Friday 19th December.
