There are few reasons for that decision:
1. These bots are extremely weak in many variants, so players can abuse them to get absurdly high number of points. This is especially true for annual tournaments.
2. In some variants these bots are unable to resign, calculate self points even in absolutely losing positions. This is terribly delaying the game. Yes, i am talking about Go.
Ok, there is no need to exclude bots from tournament completely, in the case of noticing winner of tournament if no one human plays in it. But my opinion that bots must not be allowed to play in tournaments.
Bots should be disabled in tournaments
Who will win this tournament without BOTs?
playstrategy.org/tournament/J1EbWOWj
Specifically, the player who played the most games with the bot won this tournament. Am I the only one who finds this strange?
But if you want to know the answer who will win without bots, so as i said earlier, i don't mind the presence of a bot. And if no one has played a single game, then the winner of the tournament will be determined by the rating of the players, if memory serves me correctly
The bots only play in the tournaments when there are less than 4 active players at any given moment. We would like to get to a place where the bots are not needed because there is always multiple active human players for every tournament, but we are not there at the moment.
If you want to help us get to that point, then please help spread the word about PlayStrategy and encourage other users to join our regular schedule of tournaments!
Maybe the BOT should take a break of a few minutes after each game.
The BOT need to rest after each lost game.
