I don't know how many different developers work on playstrategy, but is it possible that anyone would be willing to work on adding a game for a commission fee?
can a game be commissioned?
The code base is open source, therefore we are more than happy to have a discussion about the addition of other games and work with other devs on supporting them though pull requests etc.
What game are you interesting in adding, we may already have plans to add it in the "near" future?
I am interested in adding Christian Freeling's Dameo. At one point I had found someone who was interested in adding dameo to lidraughts, but that fell through and I don't think lidraughts is being actively developed anymore anyway.
I don't know exactly how much work would be required to add Dameo, but if anyone would quote me a price I could see if that would be within my budget.
Before adding another draughts variant we would ideally like to refactor our code base as features like analysis board are not supported for draughts. This unfortunately is low on the priority list, therefore it would be difficult to cost up supporting Dameo. We can get back in touch once draughts is better integrated.
@Jheps I have found someone online who is willing to code Dameo in exchange for a commission fee which I will pay for. If someone else is doing the work, can the contribution occur now, or does any new draughts variants need to wait until the code is refactored?
I don't have a background in coding, but wouldn't Dameo be very different from any of the current draughts variants implemented anyway since it uses all squares of the board and not just the dark squares?
You are right Dameo is different to other draughts variants and therefore it could be added separately/ coexists with the other draughts variants. We might need a discussion internally about the best way to proceed but that doesn’t mean your coder has to wait.
Feel free to put your coder in touch with us so that we can help guide/integrate their work.
Thank you for the clarification. The coder should be getting in touch on github.
We would like to make it clear that this developer does not have authority to deploy Dameo to the site and that we reserve the right to refuse the code if it's not up to our standards. We also cannot guarantee how much time we can put in to ensure the final delivery, but we will endeavour to support the pull request(s) as best we can.
