Today we launch analysis boards for many of our games and variants! Originally this was only available for only Chess, but now we have analysis boards for all other games, except Draughts. So Lines of Action, Shogi, Xiangqi, Othello and Oware now have analysis boards!
You can find the analysis boards here: playstrategy.org/analysis (under Tools) but you'll be able click 'Analysis Board' at the end of your games and investigate different lines.
We are also pleased to bring back the 'Active Players' leaderboard: playstrategy.org/player Here you can see the 10 players with the most games on PlayStrategy. A big thanks to all the players in this top 10 for your many hours spent on the site!
We've also deployed a few other small fixes and improvements, and have made a change to how Oware works behind the scenes - to help prepare us for the next game we are adding. As always, let us know if there are any problems!
NEW: Analysis boards for many PlayStrategy variants
Thanks for the great work! Will Draughts be added in the near future as well?
lidraughts.org can be useful if you are looking for draughts analysis
@KingKevin23 Yes, we do intend to add this feature for Draughts in the future. Our Draughts code is less unified with the rest of our codebase and so we need to work on better integrating that first, which isn't the simplest of tasks.
As @CHlivelylemon points out this feature is available at lidraughts.org for the variants that they have (the same as ours except for Pool, Spanish & American/English).
The analysis boards are an excellent new feature. Is it planned to allow the creation of studies for games other than chess in the future as well, now that the analysis boards are working?
Yes supporting studies for all our games in something we want to support in the (near) future.
@statmatt I hope you will provide support for draughts PDN; I know that some less technically competent players experience difficulties when they need to convert playstrategy PGN to draughts PDN.
@kalnap yes, one day we hope to support draughts PDN. As mentioned we've got quite a bit of work to do to get draughts properly synced up with everything else, so it will happen gradually alongside many other bits and pieces that we are working on.
The analysis board function is great! Will there in the future also be the option to view the analysis board during a game to visualize different variants? Or only at the end?
