We have just released a change that alters the starting player from white to black for Lines of Action (and Scrambled Eggs). Black is the traditional starting player for Lines of Action, and we are happy to be able to amend this on PlayStrategy.

All previous games in the Lines of Action game family have been updated to reflect this. So any game you have previously played where you were the starting player and moved the white pieces will now show you as the black player.

This is part of a major change in the code to allow us to use varying starting colors and varying names for colors. In Shogi colors are now referred to their correct names 'Sente' (Player 1, who is considered Black) and 'Gote' (Player 2, who is considered White). With more games on the way this will mean we can add new games with the correct starting color.

Eagle eyed users may also spot the odd reference to 'Player 1' and 'Player 2' now as the terms 'White' and 'Black' are no longer synonymous with these.
