Checkers, Othello, Antichess are all solved - yet like NMM highly worth playing. If in doubt head to playok and see the best players play. There is little chance of getting even a draw unless you have a high level of skill. Believe me it's a very challenging game - I've played thousands of games online. Brettspielnetz.de has slower correspondence games - but the top level players are still incredibly difficult to beat or draw.

@Redclay Believe me, almost all players on Brettspielnetz.de use the engine to play NMM. I think it's from this site: http://ninemensmorris.ist.tugraz.at:8080/
That's why I prefer to play Katz&Maus there ;)

That's not an engine. It's a database of all possible moves that was generated when the game was solved. There are many places it can be found, including apps and online. It is also very easy to detect when someone is using this - so I would disagree with you there. It's simply not true to say almost all... If they do it's like on any site where cheating is a possibility.
