I'm not sure there's another way to do it other than to make these diamond shapes senseis.xmp.net/?Diamond (ponnuki without the capture) and then hope that the bot is less efficient at making these.

For instance if you don't want to capture any of the bots pieces you have to pretend like it self-ataring is solidly connected, and basically that surrounding areas are un-invadeable.

It's actually more like a game like Cavity or something boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/362681/cavity.

It’s actually like greedy one move bot is programmed to play this challenge instead of Go. It’s very good at playing these diamond shapes and self atari moves as if it gains points as it would in this challenge assuming I can’t capture its stones or play inside its area :)
