Our mission is to make high-quality gameplay and training tools accessible to everyone. Whether you’re a beginner learning the basics, a competitive player preparing for tournaments, or an AI enthusiast exploring game engines, playstrategy.org provides a fair, feature-rich environment to play, learn, and improve.

Our Story

The idea for playstrategy.org emerged in 2021 following the prolonged global pandemic. The Mind Sports Olympiad (MSO), an annual festival of tournaments covering dozens of abstract games, had been forced online in 2020, away from the usual in person event based in London. In the 2020 MSO, there was a cheating incident in an Othello tournament, which highlighted the need for robust cheat detection technology to ensure the integrity of serious online tournaments. Etan Ilfeld, an American entrepreneur and the director of the MSO, envisioned a high-quality website that would bring together all of the MSO’s featured abstract games – unified and powered by AI. Taking inspiration from lichess.org, an open-source chess website, playstrategy.org was born!
