Hyper Backgammon is a variant of Backgammon that has become popular as a quick diversion from the regular game. The rules as the same as Backgammon except for the following:
Each player only starts with 3 pieces in their opponent's home, as seen in the image above.
Gammons and Backgammons only score extra points if a double has been offered and accepted during the game.
Interestingly, Hugh Sconyers has calculated the exact equity of all 32 million possible positions in hyper backgammon, which means the game has been solved and can be played perfectly by a computer. Despite this, the computer is beatable is a single game, due to variance of the dice!
